Pathaan Movie Story
Expanding Yrf's spy universe (previously directed by Shahrukh Khan's Tiger and Hrithik's Kabir) The film tells the origin story of an ex-army man who is now a secret Agent Pathaan (Shahrukh Khan) as well as his arch-nemesis, Jim (John Abraham).

Pathaan Movie Review
An event movie of sorts, in that it is Shah Rukh Khan's first return to cinema after 4 years. Pathaan is an action-packed thriller that is a hit with the audience and does justice to expectations. It's a bit flimsy in its writing but full of quality and charisma, Pathaan initially looks like a slick Mountain Dew commercial that gradually but surely gets its feet on the ground.
The story follows the revocation by India of article 370 (special status for Jammu as well as Kashmir) and the impact on a Pakistani officer who is looking for India to be held accountable for the 'error'. He seeks out the great Jim who was an ex-RAW agent who was wronged by the same group. Jim gets his gorgeous partner Rubai an agent from ISI (Deepika Padukone) with unproven motives. Pathaan, Jim, and Rubai are locked in horns and eyes as they traverse continents, and play an unsettling game of betrayal and vengeance. The trio race to take down and defend the worlds they are a part of.

Director Siddharth Annand provides an extravagant approach to this spy-thriller. The film is more of an action film that requires a massive suspension of belief. The fanboy adoration and fascination with popular Hollywood blockbusters, such as Marvel films and Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible series instance which is evident in the movie. Expect Falcon-like wingsuits and exaggerated action and chase sequences, deaths and gravity-defying stunts on vehicles bicycles, ice, and helicopters immortal villains and heroes speaking in raunchy dialogues including a woman fatale, all this soaked in the concept of patriotic values.
Action is the main part of the movie and this is new territory for SRK who is appreciated in conversational or romantic roles. It's fascinating to see how he lets his body speak as well as those powerfully emotive eyes at 57. He is an action hero of the highest caliber. His presence helps to save a script that is average and has poor visual effects. Although the background music does not seem to be in sync with the scenes the soundtrack composed and written by Vishal and Shekhar captures the bravery and heroism that is on display.
Pathaan's best part is John Abraham's convincing characterization of Jim. It doesn't matter if it's his Bane-like masked entrance or his stunt sequences John is intimidating and creates the classic instance of the villain eclipsing the hero in a few scenes.

Deepika Padukone can kick a man and is perfect as the dutiful double-crossing morally ambiguous, leggy agent. However, her relationship with SRK isn't as developed. The film lacks the enthusiasm that John-SRK's characters are able to share. Dimple Kapadia is another Tenet, bringing that vital gravitas and emotional weight to the story. The other characters should have the genuineness of their role.
It is the YRF spy universe reunited by Karan as well as Arjun (wink wink) to provide you with an iconic whistle scene when Bhai is a badass. If you're willing to ignore the snarkiness in dialogs such as 'You're quite screwed', Pathaan is a must-see movie that has all the elements of masala potboilersslowmo, a classic fight between good and bad and, most important, a gorgeous, hot Shah Rukh Khan, who can be a fighter in and off the screen. Shah Rukh Khan is the undisputed King.
