Venom: Let There Be Carnage Review
Reluctantly accepting his fate, Eddie Brock tries to live with Venom. But, it's not a smooth relationship, to put it mildly. Brock is also trying to make his name anew by conducting an interview with Cletus Kasady an infamous serial killer who isn't a fan of anyone other than him. However, things get a bit shaky when Cletus is also infected by an extremely deadly and bloody Symbiote. Brock must swiftly discover a way to cooperate with Venom and stop the Carnage caused by Kasady.
While the plot may seem straightforward for a comic-book film but the exchanges between Brock, as well as Venom, are usually the most interesting aspect of the film. Brock continually tries to satisfy Venom's craving for brains, which leads to hilarious exchanges, even if it doesn't always please everyone. But Tom Hardy's performance as the CGI character is what gets this film through some bumpy sections. As Hardy, Woody Harrelson fully accepts the film's eccentric humorous tone and enjoys the antagonist's role. In combination, the two actors make some obvious plot holes easy to overlook.
Making amends for its predecessor's mishaps The runtime is easy at just about an hour and a quarter. However, this doesn't do justice to the secondary characters Anne Weying (Michelle Williams), Francis Barrison (Naomie Harris), and Patrick Mulligan (Stephen Graham). They could be interesting characters but they aren't given much aside from a few rushed plot beats and they wind as the weakest link. Additionally, the editing can be somewhat erratic at times, indicating significant trimming, though it's not terribly distracting.
The third part is enjoyable when the two sentient aliens take on each other. The film has a significant increase in CGI in comparison to the first film and the knowledge that Director Andy Serkis clearly comes in useful. The action is simple to follow and looks stunning in 3D without being too loud. Although the film fulfills the fundamental requirements for comic book film enjoyment the most important scene is the post-credit sequence that sets the bar higher on Venom. Venom character. Not only does it alter the possibilities of what the character as well as Eddie Brock will show up next, but it creates this tense but enjoyable sequel more than just a good idea.
